The Government is currently reviewing the legislation that changed how legal aid works. The 2012 LASPO Act changed the ‘scope’ of legal aid – it reduced the types of legal problem that are covered by legal aid. These changes have impacted lots of people, including those of us with mental health problems.
We need to make sure the team reviewing these changes hears from as many people with mental health problems as possible, about how the legal system works for them, and in particular, how changes to legal aid have impacted them.
If you’ve experienced a legal problem, you can share your experiences in the form below. Your answers will appear in the email to the Review team on the next page when you click Next.
You can submit evidence on behalf of a loved one or someone you know well, if you feel confident of the details of their situation. It’s important that you’re as clear and concise as you can be in your submission. The Review team will be getting lots of information from lots of different people, so think about the main point you want to get across to them in each text box.
