Have your say on the move to Universal Credit

An independent committee is consulting on Government proposals to move people from existing benefits on to Universal Credit. They want to hear your views.

The proposals will affect people receiving benefits like ESA or housing benefit. They say that a person will receive a letter telling them that their benefit will end, and giving them between one and three months to apply for Universal Credit. The Government have said that people who can show that they are unwell can request an extension for the application process. But they haven't been clear about how people can access this. We're worried that some people will fall through the gaps and be left without an income.

You can find out more about the proposals by looking at our FAQs.

It's really important that the committee hear your views about how you think these might affect you or other people with mental health problems. Our handy tool gives you the chance to have your say. Fill our form in and we’ll send your views straight to the committee, as well as Mind receiving a copy.
